The writing has been on the proverbial wall for sometime now, but Jay Peak, Vermont is making the most its remaining snow.

The resort announced on the evening of May 7th, 2024 that they will reopen for one final weekend of skiing and riding on May 11th and May 12th. Announcement below.

The final weekend is being celebrated by local skiers who were unsure if last weekend would be the final days of the season. Today's announcement confirms that while the season is coming to an end, there's a bit more skiing to be done.

Jay will only charge $49 for lift tickets with access to the Jet Triple and Jet Trail, which is still donning a solid base of white.

It was a strange season, even by east coast standards, but Jay came out on top. The resort saw 371 inches of snowfall during the Winter '23/'24 season, above their annual average of 347 inches.

Following this weekend's operations, Killington Resort will be the lone ski resort still open in the eastern half of the United States.

Killington has yet to announce a targeted closing date, and will stay open as long as possible. A spokesperson for the resort toldĀ POWDER's Ella Boyd that they're aiming to remain open into June, as is custom for 'The Beast of the East'.

To all of our east coast friends that have already hung up the skis for the year- congratulations! You made it through another season of the sport we love move than life itself.

You can sleep tight knowing that we'll all be sliding on snow again in just a few short months. Hang in there!
