NFL analyst predicts which QB the Washington Commanders will take in 2024 NFL Draft
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Commanders hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and while there's no question the team will be looking to address their need at quarterback with the selection, there is some debate as to just how they will do that.

It's expected to come down to UNC's Drake Maye and LSU's Jayden Daniels as the team looks for its quarterback of the future.

NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently weighed in on the discussion, saying that NFL coaches are "overwhelmingly convinced" that the Commanders will take Daniels in the second spot, but that he's personally leaning toward Maye.

"In talking to coaches and executives around the league, they're like overwhelmingly convinced around the league that this is Jayden Daniels, that this is going to be the pick there at No. 2," Jeremiah said. "I like Jayden Daniels a lot. I like all these three quarterbacks. That seems to be the expectation from folks around the league, but again...anybody that said they know exactly what Washington is doing is lying, because I don't think (general manager Adam Peters) is saying a word."

The Patriots hold the third pick and should be expected to select Maye if the Commanders do not draft him.

"I’ve been connecting them to Drake Maye for a long time," Jeremiah explained. "I just felt like that fit there. I think about (Washington head coach Dan Quinn) going to a Super Bowl with Matt Ryan (with the Atlanta Falcons), and what Matt Ryan was coming out, strengths, weaknesses, and I thought it actually married up pretty well with Drake. So that had been my connection there."

It will be interesting to watch what happens when the Commanders are officially on the clock on April 25.
