Minnesota Vikings 2024 OTAs and Minicamp schedule info for the months of May and June
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

The months of May and June may seem like benign football months, but they are crucial when it comes to starting the building process for the upcoming season.

May is when teams hold OTAs, or organized team activities, and then June is the time for mandatory minicamp. Teams still hold OTAs in June, as well.

So, when are the Minnesota Vikings' activities scheduled? The information is below, per the team's NFLOMG account:

Top 3 storylines over the next month

1. Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy

This is easily the biggest storyline of the Vikings offseason. Right now, all signs point to Darnold as the starter come Week 1, but McCarthy can certainly disturb the flow of things by having a solid month. That could easily set this up for a training camp battle that would ultimately decide who wins the starting job.

2. All the new guys on defense

There could be potentially six new starters when the Vikings travel to New York City on September 8: defensive linemen Jonathan Bullard, Jerry Tillery and Jonathan Greenard, linebackers Blake Cashman and Andrew Van Ginkel, and cornerback Shaq Griffin.

Last year, the adjustment was implementing Brian Flores' new scheme. There are plenty of holdovers from last year who can help the new guys, but there will still be a learning curve when it comes to playing together. That all starts on May 20.

3. UDFAs with a legit shot to make the roster

Gabriel Murphy has an excellent shot at adding himself to the EDGE room, wide receiver Ty James can make it by proving he's an elite deep threat at the NFL level like he was in college, and Devron Harper's kick return skills could make the difference for him.
